Please tell us about your career before InfraRed
Prior to InfraRed (then HSBC) I worked as an analyst in the Group Strategy team at AMP, an Australian financial services company.
Which aspects appealed to you about our organisation?
I was initially interested in the business’s focus on Infrastructure and the launch of the HICL listed fund which was a first in the UK market. It was also clear early on that the team had a ‘big family’ culture about it; people had all worked together for a really (really!) long time and took a genuine interest in each other – this appealed to me.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
I get to work with some really great, high calibre people from all parts of the world on a daily basis. Being located in Sydney, the business’ UK provenance and international perspective is a big drawcard for me; I feel like I’m contributing to something bigger.
What advice would you give to others considering a role here?
Get involved. Throw yourself into it all aspects of the business, genuinely engage with people and seize opportunities to pitch in. This is a people business and those that do well at InfraRed are genuine and considerate, have great relationships across the business and roll up their sleeves.
Fast facts about you
I’m Australian and joined InfraRed in London where I lived for 4 years before moving home to Sydney. My wife and I are keen travellers and I enjoy skiing and a bit of tennis. I’m fond of walking around the golf course with mates, but don’t let me swing a club - awful. My wife and I have a young daughter, Jasmine, so these days my perfect weekend is spent on a Sydney beach with the family.
