James Abbott is Chief Operating Officer at InfraRed Capital Partners and a Partner of the firm. He oversees Global Operations & Asset Management.
James drives operational excellence across the business, strengthening InfraRed’s platform and ensuring the firm is positioned for sustainable growth aligned with its strategic objectives.
He sets the strategic direction for the Asset Management team overseeing InfraRed’s global infrastructure portfolio. He works with the Senior Asset Management Team and external stakeholders to drive value enhancements, manage portfolio risk, growth initiatives, deliver sustainability objectives and embed continuous improvement.
James brings deep operational expertise and a strong commercial perspective, with a focus on disciplined risk management and long‑term capital stewardship. Prior to joining InfraRed in 2025, he was Chief Operating Officer at John Laing, a KKR portfolio company.
He has more than 15 years’ experience in infrastructure and infrastructure‑related corporate finance, and over 20 years’ experience across alternative investments and financial services.
