InfraRed dodgeball event raises £50K for charities

11 November 2022 Sustainability
On the 29th September 2022, InfraRed Capital Partners hosted its annual charity dodgeball event. Having been unable to run the event during the pandemic, InfraRed’s 5th event proved an enormous success. 25 teams from InfraRed’s business partners and service providers, and 5 InfraRed teams, battled it out in the Dodgeball tournament which took place in Canary Wharf, London. Over £50k was raised for the charities SOFEA and 4Louis, with whom InfraRed works closely as a part of its Portfolio Impact strategy.

Following 100 games of dodgeball, the team from Cameron Barney emerged victorious after a dramatic finale to the evening of camaraderie. The team from HS1 won best fancy dress for their resourcefulness and sourcing their green costumes from local charity shops.

Sarah Gledhill, the Managing Director of Portfolio Impact, commented “Our annual flagship fundraiser is not only a huge amount of fun, but also shines a light on charities that provide much needed services to the communities of our assets in the UK. InfraRed endeavours to actively engage our employees and business partners in our ambition of Creating Better Futures for the 25 million people who are served by our assets – we’re looking forward to hosting it again next year already!”

The money raised this year will go towards a maternity bereavement suite at Pinderfields Hospital managed by 4Louis, a charity which supports families through miscarriage, still birth and child loss. It will also be used for the installation of kitchen equipment donated from our Oxford John Radcliffe hospital and to establish a cooking educational program run by the charity SOFEA, whose mission is to provide education, employability and wellbeing programmes for vulnerable youngsters.

Bob McGurrell, Chief Executive of 4Louis, commented: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who organised, volunteered and took part in the annual dodgeball event. Amazing people doing amazing things to support the two charities on the evening.

Thank you all on behalf of all the team here at 4Louis and your support will definitely make a different to so many bereaved parents.”

Since its inception in 2016, the dodgeball event has raised over £150,000 to deliver positive outcomes for the InfraRed assets and their users. Find out how these proceeds have made a difference.
